Recipe: Cinnamon and Vanilla French Toast
I spotted this recipe in the July / August edition of the Slimming World Magazine, and decided to give it a go. The instructions didn't seem too hard, and I had all the ingredients already at home, so said I'd try my hand at it!
It's well worth trying out, if only because it's so easy and yet tastes so decadent!
Ingredients (Serves 1):
2 slices wholemeal bread
Dash of slimline milk
Yogurt, fruit, low calorie syrups for topping
Mix the eggs, milk, tbsp sweetener, tsp of cinnamon, tsp of vanilla extract together in a large wide bowl. Cut the whole meal bread into triangles, and dip the bread into the wet mixture, making sure all sides are covered evenly.
Fry the bread in a pan on a medium heat, spraying the pan either with frylight first, or dry frying.
Once both sides are sufficently browned to your liking, plate it up.
I nearly always top my toast the same way, with a coconut or vanilla yogurt and with lots of frozen fruit. Don'y worry about defrosting them beforehand, they'll soften with the heat of the toast. Sprinkle on some cinnamon or icing sugar, top with a glug of Chocshot or Fruit Syrup and prepare to never look at "eggy bread" the same way again!
