Makeover: Kitchen Table Upcyle

When we originally moved into our house, we found ourselves faced with our next problems - furnishings. As a couple who had spent the majority of their savings on the purchasing of the house, and with an upcoming wedding to plan and finance we had to really look outside the box when it came to acquiring and buying furniture for the house.

We turned to some of the buy and sell groups online, Ebay, Adverts.ie etc but eventually found a table and chairs which we knew would suit our needs best on DoneDeal. I always knew I would want to have a table big enough to have friends over, to host dinner without everyone being too cramped, and not only did this table comfortably fit the six chairs that came with it around it, but it also came at the bargain price of $60 - we just couldn't go wrong.

Recipe: Tanya's Triple Chocolate Cookies

I recently bought a copy of Tanya Burr's cookbook Tanya Bakes after stumbling accidentally across one of her cooking videos on Youtube. You'll have to forgive me for not knowing who she was before, but I've been really behind on going on and watching Youtube videos for the past while.

I managed to find her book in a shop in Dublin, as it was completely sold out in all my local book shops and I left it up to Shane to decide what should be the first thing we should make from it (seeing as I was hoping he'd be the one eating all of whatever it was that we made)!

He picked two recipes that stood out to him - the triple chocolate cookies and the salted nutella cookies.

For me, it was a no-brainer - triple chocolate, you can't really go too wrong!

Recipe: Oat Pancakes

When I first started Slimming World, one of the meals which I really missed were pancakes.

We were big fans of them in our house, so when I found a healthier, low calorie way of enjoying them I was thrilled.

I originally sourced a recipe which called for the use of bananas in the recipe, but as cooked fruit holds a value in Slimming World, my consultant introduced me to the magic of oat pancakes.

Recap: Halloween 2016

Happy Halloween!

We've had quite an exciting past few days celebrating Halloween. Normally, I'm not the biggest fan of this time of year - I don't tend to get dressed up, we never really decorate and I detest horror movies (to be frank, I'm terrified of them, give me a good old rom-com or marvel movie anyday)! But, it is Shane's favourite time of year, he loves Halloween so much and since he always accommodates me and my love for Christmas I figured I'd return the favour, and try and embrace the Halloween spirit as much as a could.
