And another week comes to an end, and back to work I go. Easter holidays are officially over which means as of now I'm on countdown to the Summer ones and all those bank holidays in between.

Exploring: Burtown House and Gardens, Athy


As I've said already, I'm on Easter holidays from school this week. There's nothing I hate more than doing nothing when I'm off work, but obviously as Shane works completely different holidays to me it's not always he can afford to go wandering around where ever I want to go. Step forward Rusty, our friend from Kildare, who's currently living in Sweden but came back for a week visit to his parents. He also loves exploring, and is a bit of a keen photographer so when he suggested we go somewhere that would be nice to look around I jumped at the chance.

Week one of the Easter holidays has just flown by. It won't be a hot minute before the second week has flown past and I'm back at work, but for now I'm just concentrating on the different things I have coming up this week, and hopefully crossing a few more items off that to-so list of ours.

Exploring: Delphi Resort, Co. Mayo


This post is very overdue - I've just been putting it off for ages because it meant that I'd have to sort out through all my photos that I took on this weekend (and I took way too many)! I couldn't help it though - the area in which Delphi Resort is situated is absolutely stunning, and coupled with my drive home through one of the most scenic areas I've come across in Ireland meant that I was definitely camera trigger happy.

I should start by saying the reason I was in Delphi in the first place, the first time since transition year in secondary school where we went on a year bonding trip, was that I was attending the hen party of a friend of mine who's getting married very shortly ( about two and a half week countdown left at this point.

I was invited to attend, and it wouldn't be like to me to resist a good party so off I drove one Friday evening after school.

Makeover: Stag Head Upcycle


We recently did an upcyle on some lovely stag coat hooks that we put up in our newly renovated utility room, and although I was the main picture taker on the day, the process looked so easy that I decided to do one myself on this wooden stag head that we had lying around the house. 

This was an anniversary present to Shane, meant as a humorous one as he hates stag heads and antlers and I love them, but he loves making things. After he had made it, even he admitted he liked the look of it. The only issue I had with it was the cheap look of the wood, so seeing as I had some of the Matt Black Spray from Rustoleom left over from the previous upcycle I said I'd put it to good use.

What I've Been Up To: Week 14


Not a single filter on that picture overhead - such glorious weather this week. It didn't even feel like Spring this week, it felt more like Summer. Blue skies, blue bells and sunshine meant it was starting to look good for my Easter holidays from work.

20 Facts About Me

I've been tagged in this pay it forward thing a few times on Instagram over the last few weeks, so I decided that rather than go through it on there, I might turn it into a post and maybe even elaborate on a few of the facts. It also means that unless you really wanted to read them, you won't be able to without clicking through, so I won't be clogging up people's timelines with my ramblings!


I've a feeling that this is going to be a lot harder than I'm currently hoping it won't be, but I'll give it a bash anyway.

Recipe: Banana and Chocolate Chip Bread

A while back I posted a recipe for a gluten free banana bread, full of healthy ingredients and with a taste that tasted wickedly good despite its more nutritious make up.

This recipe is the complete opposite to that.

 Although the taste remains just as good, this one is definitely one for the treat table. I've been playing around with this recipe for a while, looking at different versions of it from different sources, and I think this version is the one I'm most happy with.

What I've Been Up To: Week #13

Another week down, and only four and a half days until I'm on my Easter holidays for a full two weeks. 

Easter is falling really early this year for us, but there's no way I'm complaining at all - I'm looking forward to the break so much - hoping to cross a few things off the very long list you'll see in this post later on.

Makeover: Coat Hooks Upcycle




I bought these stag head coat hooks two Winters ago, and I've been holding on to them since because I just didn't know where I wanted to put them. I loved them as soon as I saw them, and it didn't hurt that they were cheap as chips to boot.

As we've been chipping away at the back kitchen / utility room I've been busy looking through pinterest and Instagram for inspiration, and I do know that I want a country feel to it, while also using each part of the space for something practical.

As this wall was right beside the back bathroom I knew I wouldn't be able to put anything too protruding in the space , like shelving or a cabinet, where people could hit into it - and suddenly, I remembered my coat hooks.
